Tech so good you can feel it

Since the iPhone revolution, where Apple did away with all of those cumbersome buttons and brought multi-touch to the masses, its been my humble opinion that the next major leap in mobile gadgetry will be to bring buttons back. But not.

What I mean is that in place of actual, real buttons, the flat touch screens of today will provide tactile feedback as though we are using actual, real buttons. Buttons that morph dependant on what App we’re using and what orientation we hold our phone in.

The benefits will be huge:
* We’ll no longer need to keep our eyes glued to the screen at all times.
* Typing (tapping) errors will be drastically reduced.
* The bond between user and device will grow stronger .

Of course Apple’s introduction of the voice controlled Siri is meant in some part to help overcome the limitations of our current touch screen technologies, but its not perfect, and sometimes its just better to do it yourself.

So inĀ  light of the above, here’s a link to an article we found about a tech company that is making innovations in the tactile world. What they’re doing sounds incredible: a touch layer that actually moulds to what buttons are required and then recedes when no longer in use. It sounds like something from science-fiction, but it may be science-fact in the near future:
